he Majestic Imperator rides either with a nostalgic steam
engine or with a modern diesel or electric engine. After
the first carriage was finished and delivered in 1992, five
additional carriages were built, with differing furnishings and each
with a different purpose.
The Salon I carriage is a rolling coffeehouse for fourteen persons
with an elegant bar. This carriage was built by Ringhoffer-Smichov
in 1905 and was the first one that Gottfried Rieck found in his
search for original carriages. And so it comes about that a carriage
built at the beginning of the twentieth century returned at the end
of the century to the former imperial-royal workshop of the Czech
railroads in ˇCeské Velenice, where Gottfried Rieck restored it to the
splendor of a “Court and Imperial Train.”
