Following in the footsteps of the historic original
The history of the imperial-royal court trains dates back to the 19th century, the great era of railway construction. During this time, magnificent trains were built for European royal houses. The pursuit of technical precision and luxurious interiors gave rise to unique palaces on rails.
The imperial train of Austria-Hungary was constructed in Prague by the renowned Waggon- und Lokomotiv Fabrik Franz Ringhoffer in Prague-Smíchov. Many of its carriages were destroyed during the two World Wars, and only one could be preserved. Today, it can be admired at the Prague Technical Museum. The surviving blueprints served as inspiration for the Majestic Imperator Train de Luxe.
When speaking of the Austro-Hungarian court train, one name must be mentioned: Claudius von Klaudy. He was the director of imperial railway travel for His Apostolic Majesty, responsible for ensuring the comfortable and safe journeys of the imperial family.
